SUMMARY:Music on the Bruce - WORLD PREMIERE
DESCRIPTION:Music on the Bruce chamber music festival is back for its sixth season this August.  We have a brand new piece of music to perform this year!  Thanks to a grant from the SOCAN foundation\, MOTB has commissioned a new work for string quartet and voice – music by Toronto-based composer Frank Horvat\, text by Cape Croker resident\, and accoladed Canadian poet Kateri Akiwenzie-Damm.  The new work\, “Petrichor”\, is dedicated to the Saugeen/Bruce\, and will have its world premiere performance at this concert!  The program also features songs of Rebecca Clarke\, and Schubert’s epic string quartet in d-minor\, “Death and the Maiden” \nAdmission is free/voluntary donations at the venue are greatly appreciated! \nCome be a part of this World Premiere performance!

SUMMARY:Music on the Bruce Final Concert and Reception
DESCRIPTION:Music on the Bruce chamber music festival returns for our sixth season this August!  Our final concert of the summer will feature the MOTB string quartet and mezzo-soprano Joanna Diindiisikwe Simmons.  Schubert’s epic quartet in d-minor\, “Death and the Maiden”\, as well as a set of songs by Rebecca Clarke\, and “Petrichor”\, a new work commissioned by MOTB in 2026\, with music by the Toronto-based composer Frank Horvat\, text by accoladed poet (and Cape Croker resident!) Kateri Akiwenzie-Damm.  A reception will follow the concert\, with light refreshments\, and a chance to meet the musicians and socialize. \nTickets are $20/kids under 12 free.  Purchase at the door\, or in advance by email request to musiconthebruce@gmail.com.
