In 2014, the Town started the South Bruce Peninsula Heritage Award program. This is an annual award given to recognize heritage contributions in our community. There can be up to two awards given each year. A call for nomination is made in January of each year. Awards are given at the annual Volunteer Dinner.
Wiarton Walks Committee
Nominated by Wiarton & District Chamber of Commerce
Established in 2012, the Committee has carefully researched downtown Wiarton buildings and businesses and has used the research to develop a walking tour. While it is currently a self-guided tour, in 2013 and 2014, Committee members guided the tours, sharing their knowledge with interested visitors and locals.
We thank the Wiarton Walks Committee for their dedication to our community and for taking such a keen interest in downtown Wiarton.
Oliphant Campers’ Church

The Oliphant Campers’ Church as been operating since 1906, providing not only non-denominational worship services but also a community gathering place for concerts, weddings and musical concerts. Documented in publications such as Oliphant 100 years and the Bruce County Historical Society Yearbook, the Church has undergone improvements and upgrades which allow this building to continue to serve the local community each summer.
We thank the Oliphant Campers’ Church for serving our community and for the continuation of a multi-generational meeting and gathering place.
