Cemeteries

The Town operates the following three (3) cemeteries:

• Bayview Cemetery – 441042 Elm Street, Wiarton
• Edgehill Cemetery – 247 Bruce Road 9, Colpoy’s Bay
• Red Bay Cemetery – 395 Huron Road, Red Bay

Cemetery Administration

The Town’s Cemetery By-Law 14-2024 outlines the regulations for the administration and operation of the Town’s cemeteries. Cemetery Fees can be found within Appendix C of the Town’s Fee By-Law. The Town accepts cash, cheque or debit cards.

For any assistance for the Town’s cemeteries, including purchasing a plot or obtaining historical cemetery records, please contact the Public Works Department.

Other Cemetery Resources

• All cemeteries in Ontario are regulated by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO). The regulations set forth in the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act (FBCSA) and its regulations ensure the rights of the public are protected. The BAO publishes the Consumer Information Guide that provides information to the public with respect to what is required, permitted or prohibited in the bereavement sector in Ontario and can provide additional resources to assist you with honouring your loved ones.
• The Bruce County Genealogical Society has information for other cemeteries located in Bruce County and can assist with family research.
• The Province of Ontario provides resources explaining what to do when someone dies.
